The history of the Holy Roman
Empire makes it easy to see why the Imperial Scouts and Guides of the
Holy Roman Empire are predominantly Catholic in nature. The Imperials
Scouts and Guides are under the direct spiritual guidance and
leadership of the Anglican Rite Roman Catholic Church, an Old Roman
Catholic Patriarchate descended from the See of Utrecht, which itself
played a significant role in the Holy Roman Empire and was granted
independence by the Holy See in 1145. The Holy Roman Empire, however,
was historically not exclusively Catholic, and following in this
tradition, membership and the awards are available to non-Catholics
as well. It is in this spirit of ecuminism that the Holy Roman
Empire, maintaining the strength of its traditions, uses the Imperial
Scouts and Guides to further its mission of preservation of history,
the Church, and the promotion of freedom around the world.
