Founded in 1907 by the Rt. Hon.
Robert Lord Baden-Powell of Gilwell, the Scouting movement grew from
its origins in Great Britain to the world organization that it is
today. Scout and Guide programs exist to teach youth how to be
adults. In today's world, this is perhaps more important than ever.
Each national program has its own
identity, yet there are many things that tie each organization
together within the World Brotherhood of Scouting. These are both in
terms of similarity of uniform and commonality of code of conduct.
The Imperial Scouts and Guides of
the Holy Roman Empire remain an independent organization. Only one
Scouting program per nation may be a member of the World Brotherhood
of Scouting, and the I.S.G.(HRE) spans many nations. All members of
the I.S.G.(HRE) are required to be a member of a national Scouting or
Guiding program that is a member of the World Brotherhood of Scouting.
